1stCHOICE TUTORS POLICY AND PROCEDURES AGREEMENT

This document explains policies and procedures. Please read it carefully and make sure that you fully understand. These policies are subject to change. You will always be furnished with the most recent version of our policies and procedures as changes are made.

LENGTH OF SESSION: We offer 60-minute tutoring sessions. Our experience has been that 1 HR of instruction is the optimal length of time for a session for this age group. Most students can stay focused for this amount of time, and certainly many schools have transitioned to double Math periods of the same length.

CANCELLATIONS: Sessions must be canceled or rescheduled with at least 24 hours’ notice, otherwise payment will be expected. Tardiness will cut into the student’s session length.

SCOPE OF MATERIAL: We offer tutoring for standard math curriculum material from 6th Grade to 12th Grade. We work toward preparedness for EOC (End of Course) exams, as well as the State high school Math exit exam. We also offer tutoring for standardized exams such as the: SSAT, PSAT, SAT, and ACT.

INITIAL CONSULTATION: No formal tutoring will take place during the consultation. However, students are encouraged to show us their current course work. A point at which we may briefly discuss whichever aspect(s) of the material the student is having trouble with.
For students experiencing acute difficulty, it is always more advantageous for us to supplement their current course (school work) with our customized skill builders to bridge any existing gaps.

COMMUNICATION WITH TEACHER: In our experience, we have found that forming an alliance through open communication with the student’s teacher to be immensely helpful towards achieving our goal and yielding positive results. Upon request, we invite the teacher to correspond with us about the student’s progress and needs.

PREPARATION FOR SESSION: Students are expected to be prepared before each session by having all stationary, textbooks, worksheets, homework, or projects laid out so as not to waste any instruction time.

NON-DISCRIMINATION: We do not discriminate against race, sex, gender, religion or in any manner at all. All are welcome. However, we reserve the right to deny service to anyone who violates our company “ethics” policy.

ETHICS POLICY: Employees of 1stChoiceTutors will maintain the highest ethical standards in the conduct of academic affairs. The intent of this policy is that each employee will conduct 1stChoiceTutors business with integrity and comply with all applicable laws in a manner that excludes considerations of personal advantage or gain.

“GUARANTEE” / LIABILITY: Our tutoring services does not guarantee improved performance in exams, grade level or the overall end results. We have a 90% success rate that the students themselves have helped us achieve by applying themselves to their full potential. Students’ efforts include but are not limited to practice exercises completion, the mental effort to think, analyze and deduce material, and the commitment to practice daily.
We do our best in explaining concepts to students in the most comprehensible manner possible. We serve as supplements to teachers or what is often referred to by educators as a “facilitators” therefore the bulk of the work still lies with the student.
