Eddie Kihara – Founder
Eddie Kihara founded 1stChoice Tutors in 2014 with a straightforward premise: every student learns
differently, and one-on-one attention is the only way to teach to that difference. What started as a single tutoring practice in Marietta has grown into a two-location operation serving families across the greater Atlanta metro — from East Cobb and Roswell to Peachtree City and Newnan.
Over the past 12 years, Eddie and his team have worked with more than 500 students, helping them earn collectively over $6 million in academic scholarship awards. Eddie specializes in math instruction from Algebra 1 through Calculus, along with SAT and ACT preparation.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communications in IT from Southern Polytechnic State University and two Master’s degrees (MBA and MSIS) from Kennesaw State University.
He has worked with students at every level —from kids struggling to pass Geometry to high achievers pushing for a 1500+ SAT score — and approaches each student with the same methodology: identify the gap, build the foundation, repeat until it sticks. His tutoring philosophy centers on mastery over memorization. Eddie doesn’t teach students to pass a test —he teaches them to understand the material well enough that the test becomes a formality.
Today, 1stChoice Tutors operates out of Marietta and Tyrone, Georgia, with sessions available Monday
through Thursday 9am–9pm and Saturdays 9am–3pm. No contracts, no group classes, no shortcuts — just focused, personalized instruction from a tutor who has seen what consistent one-on-one work can do for a student’s confidence and results.
